one of the nasty thing twitter does is showing friend's likes. There's no way to turn it off. But has a “I don't like this tweet” option. That means, they gather data about you and can sell of.

if twitter is really concerned about helping people communicate, first thing they they can do is kill the like button. It would immediately make people learn about the world, think more, and exchange ideas.
