   Tip: if you have the means to keep an actual copper POTS line active at your house with an actual old-school corded telephone connected to it you can blow young folks' mind when the power goes out and you can still make a phone call.

   Just make sure you have someone to call who still has power (or is also weird enough to have a copper POTS line and corded telephone).

      @djsundog hell, when I was kid we didn't have the internet and even THEN it blew my mind that we could still make phone calls when the power was out

         @balrogboogie the phone system grid is one weird old beast to the core. luckily everyone will get to experience that first hand since we're making a lot of the same mistakes with the internet.
