In 2016, George Osborne (Chancellor of the Exchequer at the time) committed himself to a government surplus by the 2020/21 financial year. Not only was it pushed back to next parliament but the increases in taxes while reducing government consumption just enough to 'balance the books' is working out *so* well for them.

@thatbrickster Since then 'six jobs' Osborne is editing a London hack rag as a vehicle for his personal vendettas. Nothing like rewarding failure.
