This morning I pulled down the hummingbird feeder to give it a good cleaning. When I got down from the ladder I heard a low humming behind me, where the Anna's hummingbird that frequents our yard was hovering, glaring at me.
I held the feeder out in front of me, and after a minute-long standoff, the hummingbird took four or five sips from the feeder in my hand, bright pink feathers flashing. It was pretty cool.
