OK. First day of my evolution class, and I was unclear on the timing. Last semester I taught a course in the 1:00-2:05 time block. My brain was conditioned to come to a stop at 5 after the hour.

I'm cruising along, I glance at the clock, it's 5 after. I panic, briefly. I hadn't absorbed the idea that my class this term is 2:15-3:20. I wondered where all the time had gone, not realizing I still had 15 minutes left.

The weirdest thing was that my students were sitting attentively as the clock ticked on, and I rushed through the end of my lecture, feeling guilty that I was keeping them late, but also thinking "wow, I must be giving a riveting talk that no one is complaining."

I was actually disappointed when I was told that no, we still had plenty of time.
