To call oneself a Beatles fan (assuming this as a positive identification rather than an admission that you don't actually know any other bands) is ultimately to make the statement 'the good they brought into the world was worth Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da', and I cannot call myself a fan of them because, as much as I love some of their output and like other bits of it, I don't believe that to be true
