i'm going to break down ESR's hot take on natives and how they caused white people to prefer the pistol over the long rifle, give me a moment

okay, so the theory goes that white people switched from using long rifles (matchlocks) to flintlock pistols because of larger concern of decentralized "threats"

in reality, the "threats" were bandits and vigilantes, almost all of the time, they were not natives.

native attacks happened in result of the colonists messing with their stuff, mostly. you know, typical white people "i do what i want, even if it fucks up other people's shit" mentality. that tends to piss people off.

but back to my point, it was *really* about vigilantes and bandits (criminality), not native raids.

and of course, the US won the revolutionary war by using the raid tactics that the natives used and employing them on massive scale

the rest of his Internet cat meme demonstrates that natives liked flintlocks better because they behaved more like bows which of course is nonsense because actually a long rifle would behave more like a bow.

then it breaks down into some pseudo-libertarian nonsense which is why the libertarian party will never get even 5% of the vote in any major election ever

      worst hot take ever

        oh, i missed this gem:

"The brave men and women of Flight 93, who prevented September 11 2001 from being an even darker day than it was, were heroes in the best American tradition of bottom-up decentralized response."

the original article he discusses mentions that bottom-up decentralized response is largely a quality inherited from native culture (e.g. mine)

so, in a way, he is calling white people (himself?) sheep.

this is what i mean when i say that ESR is an idiot

hey, he said it himself: natives saved 9/11, not white people

it is the only interpretation that gem could have given the paragraphs of incoherent rambling it follows

i mean, natives did not really "save" 9/11

in reality the people on flight 93 were probably people who were like "fuck it, we're going to die anyway, may as well fuck up these terrorists shit"

in all reality, i would expect any reasonably sane person to get up and kick ass and take names in such a situation regardless of how white they are or otherwise
