Thor, the Norseman has moved!I've got Beyerdynamic DT-770 and Audio-Technica ATH-M50 hooked up to my Focusrite interface, and I'm A-B listening. They sound similar, but I think they had different design goals: The ATH-M50 feels punchy and precise. The DT-770 feels airy and detailed. The ATH-M50 seems best for pop, while the DT-770 seems best for classical.
