Honestly, I couldn't care less if some Bioware employees feel "anxiety" over the games they're developing receiving such negative press, like Anthem. Fact of the matter is after the debacle with Destiny 2 and then EA's own Battlefront 2 bullshit, gamers have every right to be suspicious and untrusting of your skeevy and consumer-hostile practices and if you don't like your consumer base being so hostile to you well that's on YOU for making them so hostile to begin with.

The morale of game developers is not my concern. I'm here to tell you guys what I think of the games I play, and if they have a problem with that, then they probably know, deep down in their heart of hearts, that the games they're making are at best flawed in some fundamental way.

Now, if I'm unfair or dishonestly represent the game, that's a concern for me yes. But if the truth hurts, well, instead of crying about it so much you should probably consider why it hurts in the first damn place.

Basically game developers are trying to evoke pity in an audience that has no pity for them. They're trying the DARVO card - trying to say that its consumers who they exploit, who are actually exploiting the poor developer and isn't it so bad they have to go home at night hearing nasty words about them ripping off gamers relentlessly and without remorse.

And honestly? If you're a developer that makes a AAA 60$ (90$ here in Canada because fuck me) game and then also has microtransactions and then also has a season pass and then also has content cut from the core game experience to be sold off, who has so little artistic integrity as to stand up for the work to not be so goddamn commerciallized to exploit the "whales", well then honestly? Fuck you.
You're the reason I can hardly afford to play new games anymore. These days all I can afford is the stuff I'm going to review. There's no money just for games for *me* - and admittedly, that's why I'm being a bit more selfish in what I decide to review nowadays.

It's a self-inflicted problem. You're paying near six-figs to programmers who consistently make buggy as shit games. You're doling out huge amounts of money to SAF-AFTA voice actors and Hollywood studio actors to appear in cutscenes. You pay huge amounts of marketing to appear on television and online. You pay huge licensing fees to middleware developers because you cannot be arsed to program a tree yourself. You have benefits programs that most Americans would fucking die to have.
And then you call us, who work our wage slave jobs for next to fucking nothing, making a pittance compared to you guys, the fucking entitled ones.
Fuck.
You.
