   Deanna Troi's mom in Star Trek TNG is one of the most infuriating characters in the show. I've seen her come aboard the Enterprise 3 or 4 times now, and she's the perfect character foil to anyone that's trying to get something done.

      I just finished watching the entire 7 years of the series with my 15 year old son. It probably took us 3 years. Now we are watching ST:TOS. Maybe we will finish before he graduates high school.

      She's much better written on DS9, but honestly most of the women didn't get the greatest writing on TNG and poor Deanna got the worst of it, with Lwaxana being dialed up into the caricature of horrible mother with a heart of gold.
