@oemplojerad no, IMO the cause is charset misconfiguration at quitter.is. Posts from there w/ nonASCII characters dont federate/arrive empty
-
@mcscx This is just a guess, but recent GS code requires the "intl" module for PHP ... it could be that q\.is or the other node involved need to update that.
Or they may need to check their database to ensure that it uses utf8mb4 encoding.
-
@lnxw48a1 quite possible, as the charset issue IIRC appreared on Vinilox after an update, and disappeared when @vinilox started to →
-
@lnxw48a1 →repurpose his web server with some software like nextcloud, (when the GS instance was already officially closed).

cc: @mmn an idea regarding the umlaut oddity: http://qttr.at/21un @lnxw48a1

@mcscx @lnxw48a1 »php7.0-intl/stable,now 7.0.27-0+deb9u1 amd64 [installed]»
What was odder, I noticed earlier tonight, was that 'locales' wasn't installed. (???!!) After that at least @hundur started federating.
-
@mmn great! Btw some umlaut posts still federated before. Maybe it was 33% empty content, 33% federated ok, 33% didn't federate. @lnxw48a1

@mmn I'm still seeing "Al"… in usernames on quitter.is's public TL. Looks like the "vinilox issue" could still be there. But we'll see…
