I think my favorite kind of album is one that's an unpolished diamond. It's heart is beautiful and made better for it's flaws.
One-take recordings with obvious background noises, uneven and unpracticed mastering, mistakes in the performance. These human choices make them special to me.
Jose González's first album 'Veneer' is exactly this, but so beautiful too. Just a muddy acoustic guitar and vocals and a lot of feelings.
