    One thing which nobody is paying attention to is that LetsEncrypt - a public benefit corporation based in California and run by eight people - has become a single point of failure. If LetsEncrypt were to suddenly go away for some reason there would be a lot of trouble.

      I expect Seth Schoen at the very least is mindful of this, and it's probably just one of the facets that drives making sure the code for effecting LE is freed.

      Your on the money observing that browser adoption of CA's is a bottleneck.
