   @craig i guess it depends on the detail.

   let's rephrase: english and western ideas has massive effect on india.

   i'd go further: due to english being the main language of india in tech, science, and international issues, al websites, western culture is the primary culture of newer generation of indians.

      @craig i mean, what you said is a good point. But thinking about that, i try to make it more precise what it means.
      of cultures where english is primary lang, sure they all retain some native culture.

      But it's quite diff from countries where eng isnt primary lang.

      so in that sense, we need to compare, say, france, spain, brazil, how they have retained their own culture...
