    One for the Apple fans. I'm not an Apple user, but I know there has been hype in the past about Apple's closed source stuff being supposedly the most secure, with the key stored in a secure enclave on iThings. This story indicates that even if such a key exists it gets duplicated to the iCloud.

      Apple moves to store iCloud keys in China, raising human rights fears
      from U.S.
      When Apple Inc begins hosting Chinese users' iCloud accounts in a new Chinese data center at the end of this month to comply with new laws there, Chinese authorities will have far easier access to text messages, email and other data stored in the cloud.
