"Neil Gaiman announces new Sandman Universe line of comics — exclusive"
...Hmmmmmm.
-
"But in honor of the series’ 30th anniversary this year, Gaiman is coming back to the Dreaming in a big way. EW can exclusively announce that DC Comics is launching a Sandman Universe line of four new comic series. The books will be overseen by Gaiman but written and drawn by brand new creative teams. They will pick up story threads and themes from The Sandman while also adding new characters and concepts."
I mean...ehh. It has Gaiman's full backing it seems. (There's a video on the site in which he directly introduces everything too) But...I dunno. Something feels off.
The original run is one of those 'classics' that you worry about being expanded upon in any way. There's been the odd spin-off here and there since it that have been okay, but not -as- good.

@katiekats Someones fallen on rough financial times huh

@maiyannah
Yeahhhh. The fact that he's not actually writing any of it by the looks, just kinda 'overseeing' others, pushes that.
Kinda just a bit "I want money. I have intellectual property people like. *throws it*"

@katiekats The Disney slash Activision Blizzard approach

@maiyannah
Mhm. It's...none of the new books look...really all that linked to the original anyways. They look like -very- loose threads.
-
@katiekats Well they couldnt really center them around Dream.
He's dead.
