      Mastodon was real-life non-imaginary cultural imperialism in action, and still is.  They dominate and downright oppress a native culture they dislike.  Just look at the blocklists.  It's basically a who's-who of the long-standing GNU social or postActiv nodes.

         If you don't want them involved in negatively influencing the culture then isn't them not federating then a good thing?
