  Perhaps key to understanding the lurch to the right is the indication that the majority of AfD voters say they made their decision not based on belief in the party, but rather as a reaction to their disappointment in the other parties.

  What we need is a far-center party. The alt-middle. The party of "Yeah, your life is down the drain and you feel like the fabric of society is dissolving, but really, anything we would try to do on a national political level would only hasten it."
  
  Vote for me for President/Chancellor/Emperor. I won't do shit. And that's a promise you can hold me to.

    @clacke @zerohedge I believe in Placeholder Figureheads, too. Nothing gets better, but the race to the bottom slows dramatically.
