That Kingdom Come: Deliverance stretch goals stuff, is...very iffy to me.

The gist is, they had stretch goals on their Kickstarter (If we hit this amount of money, we'll also add this!) that were hit, and weren't included in the base game.

Some sites reported that they weren't going to fulfill their stretch goals.

They corrected this, saying they were. It'll be DLC, which will be free for backers.

So lots of people are thinking, problem solved!

But...you don't promise stretch goals as DLC. Stretch goals are stuff that if you hit, will be included in the -base- game. That's the deal you make with your backers.

It's fair to say a stretch goal that's -not- hit, might make it into future DLC. That makes sense. They don't get it cos they didn't hit it, but with the money from sales, it might make it's way into a future thing.

But that's not the case here. The case here is that they hit those stretch goals, and they're going to be DLC, rather than being in the base game. Which, sure, 'at least they are doing them' but...that feels disingenuous.

The real thing that should be controversy here, is that stuff that should be part of the base game. Isn't. Whether it's coming later or not, isn't really the point.
