   @bvtsang I expect there's a bunch of people on the Fediverse whose brains always read it as "Single Side Band" first.
   
   In particular those people who even have their callsign as part of their user name or display name.

         @tomas It's funny, because several of the early crowd on Scuttlebutt are also radio amateurs. That's maybe not very surprising, as there's a lot of off-the-grid people.
         
         Makes me wonder if maybe the initialism collided with the radio term partly on purpose.

            @clacke hams tend to be early adopters of a lot of things. IPv4 for example. The entire 44.x.x.x /8 block is reserved for #amateurradio use :]
