I believe the capabilities described have been present for several years and do not depend on any recent changes.

      From 5 months ago:

You can write and edit documents with LibreOffice on your Hubzilla cloud.
      File
      Open Remote File

      Add service
Host: Only your domain name, no https://
      Secure Connection: checked
      Label: a nickname
      Root: /dav/

Then I had to close out of LibreOffice. When I reopened and selected Remote File I was asked for my user and pass for the cloud, and to choose a master password for storing the cloud passwords in LibreOffice.

I can't imagine how people missed this cool feature since it's so obviously advertised on our project webpage and in the Help pages.

The take home message besides Hubzilla awesomeness for members is WAKE UP to WebDAV possibilities. The WebDAV protocol started in 1996 and has been stable since 2007. WebDAV support was added to Microsoft Office 2000 in 1999 and LibreOffice precursors OpenOffice 2.4 and StarOffice 7 in 2003.

I thought Charles was talking about editing Libre Office documents inline. But this is of course also a nice feature, although you can of course edit every file in your Hubzilla cloud using Webdav.

This is creating and editing a document in my hubzilla cloud using only libreoffice. No browser or other software involved no  local copy. With permissions granted, it can be collaborative.

is there a simple way to mount a WebDAV host to a folder in Linux, without needing to mess around wtih fstab etc? Like sshfs, where you just run sshfs <host> <mountpoint>.

@mrjive thanks :). I did check that guide before and it didn't provide a way to do it directly via command line, however I realised I can use mount -t davfs "https://lastauth.com/dav/hello" /tmp/test which works.

The documentation also needs to be updated. It tells you to use for the DAV url
      https://<hub-url>/dav
        rather than
      https://<hub-url>/dav/<username>

It seems like this also means a plug-in could be made to connect to Collabora Online, letting you edit your documents in the browser directly from the Hubzilla UI like NextCloud does.

The Gnome file manager (Nautilus) attaches to DAV folders.

      davs://server.name/dav

      Easy-peasy.

You can add the username and also the password to the server name if you don't want it to ask you.

      username@server.name or username:password@server.name

You could mount a directory in webdav as described above and then use it as encrypted directory via cryfs.

      In short for Debian

      Install

      apt-get install cryfs

      Usage

      cryfs webdav-sub-dir mountdir

Just copy you files to "mountdir". You can edit them too.

Thanks @Einer for suggesting CryFS, I've been wanting a way to store encrypted files in the 'cloud', I'm using Veracrypt currently but it's not suitable for 'cloud' storage.
