Like #Zot, #SSB (Secure #Scuttlebutt) is a fairly new social network protocol:

I'm looking forward to figuring out how to test it. So far there only seem to be desktop clients like:

SSB seems perfect for the mobile use case. I wonder if or when there will be SSB clients for Android, iOS etc?

Here's a run-down on using Patchwork, the flagship #SSB client

@strypey I see what you mean in terms of intermittent connections and so on. Maybe it would be really good if you never talk to the network unless you're on external power. But if you let it talk as much as it likes, that's a lot of traffic.

I guess just like how #AndStatus can be set to sync every X hours, MMMMM-Mobile could have such a setting too, once it gets to a more usable stage.

@strypey (I'm not dissing on MMMMM-Mobile, I think it's great that it's come this far. I just want to scare off anyone who would think it's a good introduction to the Scuttleverse. It isn't. Yet!)

@strypey I am enjoying patchfoo as my SSB frontend. JS-free, in your regular browser. It's a bit of a hassle to set up though, I'm afraid.

I used to run patchwork-classic, but as it's not being updated, these days the bundled scuttlebot has more and more problems with talking to the network.
