   @bobjonkman I'm confused by your @firehose account. Why send messages to it instead of directly to you?

      You don't need to send messages to @firehose. It's meant to receive messages so that conversation threading stays complete on my instance. There's currently only me on this instance, and @firehose helps me stay apprised of interesting conversations.

         Ah, perhaps I understand now -- I hadn't gotten around to subscribing @bobjonkman to your @ink_slinger account yet; I must have been logged in as @firehose when I subscribed to you.

            @bobjonkman I still don't entirely understand the purpose of the account but, yes, this is largely why I was confused.
