honestly the whole callout culture/angry dogpiling part of social justice has made me so scared to enjoy anything or interact with anyone thanks to the possible repercussions, especially after having to deal with kiwifarts' bullshit.

it feels like literally everyone is trying to defame someone else over the most bullshit reasons now.

being transfeminine and loud always comes with its risks, and it feels like life while being openly transfeminine always comes down to people watching and waiting for you to do some small thing that they can then twist into a huge fiasco to destroy you.

there's this constant feeling that everyone around you has control over everything you say and do, and you must always please them.

there was an article i read the other day that detailed how housing, work, all basic needs can basically be taken away from someone if someone else on the internet doesn't like them enough. and for some of us, being transfeminine is enough to warrant dogpiles, harassment, allegations of sexual assault.

even if they can't dox us, they can at least make sure we never feel safe on the internet again.

there are so many folks out there that have learned to spin a web out of social justice lingo to catch any unsuspecting individual who so much as says something they disagree with or makes a tiny mistake and doesn't apologise/make amends quick enough.

i'm done paying heed to it or being friends with folks who think this behaviour is acceptable. the social justice community is toxic as fuck in similar ways to what it used to oppose.

i really don't know how to approach callouts anymore because some of them are very serious and some of them are started over an accidental boost or a misunderstanding or something else trivial

and since everyone conflates everything as being absolutely horrible, and socially isolating or outright destroying the life of the subject no matter the severity or longevity of the supposed bad behaviour, it's impossible to know reality from some petty grudge

i'm just at a loss for how to parse callouts moving forward.

they've become both an easy thing for abusers to escape by discrediting them, and a tool for abusers to wield against their victims to discredit them once again. feels like an impossible situation

i used to say that callouts were worth the few false positives because i didn't realise folks were getting so nasty over misunderstandings, as well as some folks being deceptive and using callouts as part of their abuse.

i was also wary of the criticisms of callout culture because it seemed like a lot of the people who were fed up with it...were also targets of callouts themselves. it's impossible to tell what's what.

@ctrlaltdog There is no tool which works indefinitely; the rolling meta of politics decrees that Status Q will coopt any successful strategy to defend itself. Successful movements recognize when a tool has outlived its utility and adapt. Unsuccessful ones become tools of Status Q.
