I think there's a connection between gnu software often having exceptionally bad ux and the and the gnu project having this extremely ugly animal as it's namesake/mascot. Anyone who looks at that and goes "yeah this is what I want to represent my project" probably isn't going to have a good sense of aesthetics.

@animeirl Never let engineers design the software's UX. They probably see it as an overhead.
