While I am in a ranting mood, I'm going to expound a bit:
Once upon a time, I worked for a news organization here in Washington DC that caters to the Swamp crowd exclusively.
Editorial staff are the most insufferable human beings on the planet. Their very raison d'etre is based on self-importance. They can't explain to how or why they seem to know what should be on the front page, but they are ego invested in their capacity to achieve this magic.
