Shortly after I bought my very first computer (a 2001 dual-USB Apple iBook running Mac OS 9, but you could boot into Mac OS X if you were feeling adventurous), Apple released iPhoto

And the way they billed the app, it was supposed to replace all those boxes of old negatives and photo albums

It was going to be a permanent digital storage for all the photos you'd take over the years
