#NOAA / #NWS is blitzing me with severe #t-storm warnings for much of eastern #KS and western #MO, including the KC metro, Atchison, St Joseph, Marysville. There was also a tornado watch issued earlier.

@lnxw48a1 Given the large temperature swings and strange weather recently it's not surprising. Stay safe out there!

@hattiecat I'm currently in #PR (Puerto Rico), but I've got a son and grandkids in KC.

@lnxw48a1 How's the situation in PR at the moment? Heard just the other day that finds for rebuilding are not really forthcoming for many people, especially properties without proper permits, power still not fully restored and hurricane season approaching.

@hattiecat I've only been in the San Juan metro and Caguas (and spending about 70 hours per week between the workplace and commuting), so any answer I give is incomplete.
            .
Last I saw, around 95% of the island had power available, but even in the capital, there are many traffic lights not working. The roads are lacking years of maintenance, high-level officials are embroiled in corruption scandals, and both the government and power company are bankrupt. They've had 11 years of recession.Expect full recovery in 10-20 years at best.

@lnxw48a1 I understood the economy was in a mess even before Maria, largely due to expired federal regulations relating to tax breaks. And without representation in Congress...

@hattiecat I hadn't heard much about the situation in #PR before hurricanes Irma and Maria. I knew residents pay no federal income tax, and right before Irma, I learned that bankruptcy was imminent. But now that I know they're in a (so far) 11 years long recession.
