“When did people lose faith in [science, public institutions, etc.]” ... actually always/they never had it? There’s always been a subset who put ridic and unjustified levels of faith in stuff like science (see early 20th cent medicine before you @ me) and those who are impossible to convince/who only believe what suits them.

And they’ve always been wide swaths of population too
