The software industry in general is explicitly antagonistic to open source and while there are genuine issues with culture and lack of documentation the big problem is that Microsoft, Google, and especially Apple do their best to stamp out consumer use of open source

Yeah it's fine with them as long as the Linux/Docker/etc devs keep working for cheap/free to produce the world's best cloud software, and they'll even monetarily support that, but NOT at the consumer level. At all.
