   The datacenter where I run grindcore.ch from is closing. I need a new home. I might go down @theru 's route and migrate to VPSes...

      @beni it's probably cheaper in the long run. I do have a server under my desk for a bit more beefier stuff. But for things that I just need running a VPS is neat. And most places that run KVM you can just install freebsd

         @theru I'm certain it will be cheaper, not only in the long run. But I don't have my own 1U machine I can touch in a DC ;)

               @theru the problem is that I'm still on crappy slow VDSL without any possibility to get proper speeds. Not what you need for home servers...

                  @beni depends on what you have on the server. A lot of the stuff I have is mostly for internal use - but nice to access from the outside as well (tt-rss, wallabag)

                     @theru yeah, I think I'll move #Hubzilla to a vps and everything else to a home server. Yet, I could also join communityrack.org - but they are in Zurich, too... ;)

               @silkevicious @theru Now that Deltalis closes all DCs are in Zurich (that's the one ;) ) and Geneva. I just liked the motorcycle ride to the DC in Uri. The road to Zurich is not half the fun...

            @beni @silkevicious if they run on kvm you can always install it :) I run mine on Hetzner and they have a BSD recovery image you can use to install it. I did run on Digital Ocean they have a BSD image as well

                     @silkevicious @theru There are more than enough VPS providers. What I like about ipng.ch is the community aspect which all of the professional providers fully lack.
