    When I buy a new phone, I keep the old one as a backup, in case I need to send the new one for repairs. This means, by the time I've got a phone that I am "not using," it's too old to sell. So I've got a handful of old devices kicking around. A few are too old to do anything with, but my Nexus 5 and Nextbit Robin are still usable, if I installed ROMs on them.

    I may use one as a glorified remote control for my Chromecasts. What to do w/ the other?

      @ink_slinger crypto wallet.

      Power off all the time, can qr code scan for ease of use.

      Load a security minded rom, create single purpose Google account or use fdroid to install your wallet of choice.

      @ink_slinger I saw a pretty cool application where someone mounted an old smartphone into a shoebox with a lens and made a projector.

        @Modern_Industrial That could be kind of cool, especially for outdoor movie watching.
