@Mogsie people get a little too comfortable with the idea that the fediverse is automatically better than twitter. Just a quick rundown why twitter was (note "was") better:

-no instance blocklists
-no blocklists at all until a few years ago
-no cws
-no cw "culture" dictating to people what is appropriate to talk about freely without censorship
-mastodon still has character limits and while they are bigger than twitter people dont like the limits at all. Mastodon doesnt really improve on this.
-more restrictions in moderation that what twitter actually had. Which is a result in it's decentralized nature.

a large majority of instances dont believe in true posting freedom. Those that even come close to that get attacked to hell.

Federation is not the utopia people believe it to be. It's not even close.
