   Trying to port ancient kernel patches to a modern kernel. The patches are from 2.6.36 and the new kernel is 3.16.56. If that works then I'm-a ride this wave all the way to version 4. I may be gone some time.

      So far I've just re-applied the patches (sometimes to a different file if the file moved), and changed a few deprecated calls to their newer equivalents. Nothing too bad so far, dot dot dot.
