I think in the particular instance, the case is whether there's empathy or not.
I, at least personally, don't really have an issue with people not liking the guy. Much like you, I went off his content, and ended up quite dissatisfied with his behaviour.
There's just...two types of people. Those who note that, but still respect the good he did, and appreciate how sad it must be for others.
...And all the people who ridicule him, anyone who liked him, act like he was basically Hitler, did no good at all, when the body ain't even cold.
Hero worship generally isn't very good, but there's the respectful way to point that out, and there's the...people tastelessly cruelly tearing down everything and everyone associated with him.
No one is perfect. But a lot of these people need to learn that not being perfect doens't inherently mean you're literally Satan.

@katiekats I find the idea that you suddenly need to act very differently in your discussion of someone because they died or something bad happened to them extremely dishonest a behaviour. You're asking people to lie to spare your feelings.

I agree, and I'm not advocating that.
I've just seen a lot of people saying -no one should feel sad at all because the man was pure evil incarnate and if you ever liked him, fuck you- and that's...well it's not what I'd call 'discussion'
I don't agree with them just as much as I don't agree with the people chasing after anyone with a slightly bad word to say.
As always, my point is merely, the extremists on both sides are what let the whole thing down.

@katiekats Well, perhaps if he didn't want people feeling that way when he died, he shouldn't've been using his platform to completely destroy the social lives and credibility of people whom disagreed with him.

I guess it's just...a lot of those saying what they have, are types that I wouldn't have said -have- been that level of slighted by him.
I understand in the case of what you're mentioning. But I struggle to see, in the case of many, he personally totally fucked them over. A lot of it seems politically motivated from what I've noticed.
But, I dunno. I'm not -that- invested in the whole thing, I used to respect him, and don't anymore. At the end of the day, I hope those who feel genuinely slighted by him feel better in time, and those who miss him can move on in time. So I'll take your word for it.

Well, yeah, but like...I dunno.
You're right, don't get me wrong, this whole thing just...fucks with me a little and I don't know what to make of it. It's a whole lot of hurt all over the place and I'm bad at tackling such in a logical way.
Hence...just...gonna take your word as noted.
