Yeah don't mix up x and sh, don't mix up q and ch, and don't mix up j and zh.
I know what you're getting at, but x is a "weird" sound that doesn't exist in English as an initial. It does exist in e.g. "issue", but it doesn't have a proper spelling of its own, it just sort of happens.
sh and ch are good choices, j is too, but x and q should have been hs and ts (or perhaps tj), and zh should have been dsh, because nobody interprets "zh" correctly without being told what it is supposed to be.

@nonphatic @impiaaa Come to think of it, English "ch" is more like pinyin "q" than pinyin "ch", so that's not an all that good choice either. The pinyin for what is today "ch" should probably be "tsh" instead.

Also don't conflate x/sh/s, but never mind, I'm apparently blocked/silenced/whatever.
