    Hmm. I'm a lot more worried about any new income being subsumed by rent than he is, but I do agree with Scott that basic income sounds much better than basic jobs. :/

      I also disagree with his "Basic income will solve rich vs poor" argument. It might solve "Poor vs middle class", and I guess thats a worthwhile improvement, but I'm not very confident it will manage even that, and it definitely won;t solve rich vs poor. Indeed, it will probably escalate it... :/

        And especially, the part where he talks about "1% with awesome robot empires", and man, if that happens 90% of us are screwed. You're made out of atoms that could be something else, and you use joules and negentropy that could do other things, and that automatically puts you in competition with those who want to have that something else and do those other things. And when those people have awesome robot empires, well... Good luck. :/
