Hmm. So, heres an idea I thought about a few years ago. Basically, its an idea for a way to restructure the economy to hopefully be less corrupt. Of note, however, it can be implemented piecemeal, from the bottom up, at least in theory. It has three types of components: general enterprises, logistical enterprises, and watchdog enterprises. These are all distributed - that is to say, anyone can start a new one and hook it into the existing system.

General enterprises are basically businesses, though with some restrictions - they'd be non-profit, for example, though they mkight pay their employees relatively well. They'd be forbidden from getting too large, they'd be expected to make a lot of information public, and perhaps they'd have even more restrictions, like a maximum life span after which they were mandated to dissolve - I'm not sure on the details.

Logistical enterprises are a bit more interesting. Their job, basically, is to collect and distribute money and resources. This is useful, at least in theory, because it allows you to correct for various flaws of a normal market economy - externalities, abusive practices, things that just don't commercialize well (Like open source software), etc, etc.

Watchdog enterprises, meanwhile, are basically journalists and reporters, though somewhat more boring. Their job is to keep everyone else honest, and report on them if they're not being honest, or if they're being incompetent or whatever, so that people can ditch them and take their support elsewhere.

All of these, of course, would be decentralized and federated. Anyone can start a new one, and if they fuck things up they can be removed and dissolved.

Of course, there are still plenty of ways the system can go bad. I hope these innovations will ameliorate the problems of other organizations, but they might not help much, and they might very well introduce new problems. Still, at the very least it's interesting to think about. :/
