i'd support both a fork and staying here on mastodon in the sense that i've made a lot of cool friends here, and it's a little early to switch to something else entirely once again, but it'd be nice to help another platform grow and see how it compares alongside it
tbh i'm not sure if a new social network would have as much momentum since mastodon isn't nearly as bad as twitter to warrant remaking accounts and such

i mean, yeah, the whole "trending" thing isn't a big enough deal to make a fuss over or straight up leave mastodon and set up a fork, but that's not the issue here
the issue is that if this is how disagreements will be handled in future, much more serious problems will end in the same way, and the platform (as well as a lot of the users) will suffer for it

@ctrlaltdog Yeah, if the dev team (in particularly the lead dev, who uses "I" when describing a group development effort, but I digress...) ignores and/or belittles marginalized users' concerns for a year straight until people have completely and utterly had it, it will be a huge problem in the future, too.

@ctrlaltdog Whether feelings are hurt right now or not because of what one person said when they reached their breaking point from all the condescension, a strong effort needs to be made by the people developing Mastodon (or any fork) to be way more proactive, listen, and not just do whatever the hell they want at the end of the process or when they're bored of hearing things that aren't a part of their "vision".
