this whole ordeal is quite exhausting and there are a lot of folks who are rolling their eyes, wishing this would all go away and everything could go back to normal, etc
unfortunately this is how change works. things come to a boiling point and tensions explode into vitriol which eventually pushes people into making snap decisions that for better or for worse, force them to walk a different path

some bridges were burned, some new ones were made. honestly i think this is overall a positive thing since now there's a chance something good could come of it.
there's also a chance it could suffer from similar problems that brought the current community to the position its been in for the last couple days. who knows.
i guess the important thing is to consistently learn and adapt when things go wrong

the success of the fork should take into consideration every large and small complaint possible that anyone has had with mastodon.
things like correcting the inherent whiteness of mastodon, expanding accessibility features, centering every marginalised group over the status quo, and especially making the platform accessible to non-programmers for both contribution and deployment

oh, and let's not forget one of the biggest problems: leadership.
we can't have a single person at the head of everything. we need a diverse group of equally powerful contributors all working together and working with the community to get things done.
as well as a way for the community at large to hold them accountable and directly participate in decisions
