People seem to have 100% hyped themselves up and believed without a doubt that the WB games 'surprise' announcement wouldn't be Hitman 2, despite all the signs towards it, and are now very angry.

I...dunno what to tell you. Not every announcement is gonna be what you precisely want, and if you consciously ignored all the signs and mentions it'd very deeply likely be Hitman 2, just to keep believing in your theory, that's on you.

On the topic of Hitman 2, apparently this one won't be episodic which is interesting to me.

On the one hand, makes sense, they got a lot of backlash for that.

On the other hand, most of the people I've heard pick it up. Appreciated the detail put into each map, and how they could properly delve into all of it over time, due to the way the releases worked.

It came across as something the general base responded badly to (cos episodic games these days only really apply to a certain subset) but those who picked it up, ended up appreciating it. Hence me finding the apparent choice for 2 not to be, interesting.
