@slrock No, I am on mastodon.social searching for a notice from another mastodon instance, and I even know the notice is on mastodon.social because I can see it in that user's timeline. But probably I can only see it because I am subscribed to that user.
And probably the search function only searches public posts and isn't made aware that I happen to be allowed to see these.
I'm not complaining, it probably is a good design choice to defend against a potential bug leaking posts. It was just a mystery and I think I found out what it means.
