@igor Doesn't seem to go into how this is relevant for libraries. What would you hash for example? Specific scans of books? PDFs in case there's a digital original? Maybe source .tex files too..
I guess all libraries could try to cooperate on something like a git or hg repo with all the metadata + scans/PDFs, in a federated manner
