maiki@satchmoz @saxnot I think jmp.chat just bridges telephony services (voicemail transcription, SMS forwarding). Signal and WhatsApp, I think those use data connections. The point here would be to have a POTS number forwarded to a jabber ID. That is aside from how your device connects to a network. If you use a SIM connection, then you might as well use a phone for a phone. Well, maybe. ^_^
