      @musicman Theoretically good. Poorly thought out. Los Angeles has nothing in common with Monterey, but belongs with the rest of !SoCal.

      The state of #CA is in desperate need of division into 2-4 smaller entities, but this is the wrong plan for the job.

        Population #s are going to be way off if you move LA...of course you can move other things. It seems like the more variables you introduce, the less likely to happen, so maybe two is the way forward.

          @musicman Trying to balance population counts is a bad move. Grouping areas such that they are contiguous and have natural affinity is the most important. Trying to evenly divide Electoral College votes without causing political implosion in the new states is not possible.
