   the family from my mother's side is Arabian. they came here somewhere after WWI. (no records and grandma doesn't know much about it either). my mom is dark skinned. her side of the family was only better off financially cause my grandfather was a medic during the military dictatorship in the 60s, he died when i was born.

      my dad's side of the family fled some Germanic country (can't exactly remember which) before WWII. i remember grandma teaching me a couple of words of German before she passed away when i was 6. dad is the last surviving member before me, and they were financially unstable until well after he married my mom

         point is I'm 3rd generation Latina, my mom is dark skinned and if you think I'm as privileged as a white American you are sorely mistaken
