@masklayer if it's just writing and researching then 500gb should be fine, the extra speed of a 7200rpm drive would be better than a 5400rpm one anyway.
if there's an option for an ssd though, even if it cuts the storage space in half, i'd highly recommend it. it'll run without one, but it'll be a bottleneck.
