    @saxnot labeling things basically gives us a better way to communicate about them quickly and effectively. helps with educating others, finding others like us, and making our needs/wants known.

    people will always refine labels little by little if broader/vaguer terms do not fit their needs/are conveying the wrong idea.

    doesn't necessarily change who we are, and i don't think it's really splitting us up unless nobody can easily figure out what the labels mean.

      @saxnot like, before i knew about asexuality, i thought i was broken. i thought my brain was fucked in some way. i felt inadequate. having a label for it made it easier for me to discover, look up, and identify with asexuality.

      it made it feel like that part of me was...official. real. solid. not some abstract concept that couldn't be defined because it was just a defect and didn't deserve recognition.

      having terms like "gray ace" helped even more.
