hearing/seeing signs that not much has changed since the previous decade, not exactly encourgaging

at best, people respond in the same way as they do online: "oh yeah, that's a problem *faves/boosts*" then they do nothing to address the problem

at worst, they get defensive, if not actively aggressive when this gets pointed out, if the past is any indication
