Starving. I've been up since 4 AM and my internal clock is whacked. To illustrate it, I've got a hankering for wine.

Yo @Combaticus I used to have hankerings for spirits in the AM. One of the reasons I gave them up. That plus I had the hankerings at noon, or 15:00 hours, or 18:00 hours or...

@YoVinnie Yeah, I went through a period like that about 20 years ago when I lived in Cape Town. Had a business that was falling apart and started drinking two or three bottles of cheap scotch a week. Realized I was heading for trouble when I woke up thinking about getting a drink. Sent myself to time out for a bit. I still drink, but pay closer attention to my behavior ever since.

Yo @Combaticus I'll tell ya what, the first couple of years of abstinence was brutal. I've had my fair share of addictions (too much of everything was just enough) and the only other that was that hard to kick was tobacco. 5 years since I quit smoking. Been bout 20 years since I quit drinking seriously. I've had some beers/cocktails in the meantime, but lost the taste for the buzz.
I've had the urge lately to brew some beer, or make some vino. You're in grape growing land. U should have a go.

@YoVinnie Wow, Vinnie! Breaking habits and addictions like smoking and drinking put you in a small minority of people who got free. Respect.
Yes, we're essentially in the Finger Lakes region. We've got an old vine of Niagaras out back—not so good for wine. I've got the space to grow vines ... hm.

Yo @Combaticus growing up I lived next door to an old Russian fella. He would pick all the dandelions from his yard and our yard and make wine from them. Never got to taste it as I was too young. My Old Man enjoyed the hell out of it though.

@YoVinnie I have been gifted homemade dandelion wine before. It's an acquired taste. ;)

@Combaticus @YoVinnie food is another one of these addictions some of us have. Unlike, say, alcohol, we do need food. It's about when, how much, and what.

No doubt. I could stand to be a little more svelte for certain.

Yo fellas. Damn if I wasn't just thinking the same thing on the svelte angle. I was in the shower the other day and it's getting harder to see my toes. I thought about @PhoneBoy's recent posts on pursuing better food habits. Might be time to lend him some support and join his team. If I don't then pretty soon my waist will be inches above my knees 🍩 🍪

I'm reminded of a song by Shel Silverstein about dieting.
